Weighing with a Standard Measure

Today in maths, we were practising weighing with standard measures.  We used unifix cubes.

This is what we wrote up on our interactive whiteboard.

We each selected an object to weigh using our balance scales and worked in groups.

Here we are hard at work:

This is some of our recording:

What we practiced and learnt:
 - to weigh different things (Pippa)
 - if one side of the balance scales is too heavy, the line will not be straight.  Then you can put another unfix cube in the other side to make it balance.  (Blake)
 - as you put more unifix cubes in, the scales get straighter and straighter. (Bella)
 - if the scales aren't balanced sometimes you can take a unifix cube out to balance it.  (George)

We also practice working together as a team to do a task and making predictions.

Great work Room15!!!   Ka pai.

Practising our Te Reo pronunciation... A E I O U

The last two weeks in Te Reo with Whaea Lena, we have been learning and practising understanding and saying the vowel sounds correctly in maori.

In our class, Zoey speaks Dutch and Phoenix speaks Chinese at home.  This is great!  Keep it up Zoey and Phoenix.  :-)

In New Zealand we have 3 official language - English, Maori and NZ Sign Language.

So... learning correct pronunciation te reo important and helpful to us.

We can use these resources to help learn:
